eBay have announced that the ‘Seller Refurbished’ condition is to be discontinued in selected categories. Your options will be to use the ‘Used’ condition or apply to join the Refurbished on eBay programme if you wish to continue using the ‘Refurbished’ attribute.
This is happening because, to build trust with buyers, eBay are expanding the Refurbished on eBay programme, hence the phasing out the ‘Seller Refurbished’ item condition in selected categories. This will impact certain categories for Electronics, Lifestyle, and Home & Garden.
eBay say that there are three steps in this process that you need to be aware of:
- To keep your listings active, please change any ‘Seller Refurbished’ items in the affected categories to the ‘Used’ condition by the 5th of August.
- After the 5th of August, any remaining listings with the ‘Seller Refurbished’ item condition will automatically be updated to ‘Used’ and any listings with errors will be ended.
- If you use a third-party tool to manage your listings on eBay, they recommend working with your Service Providers to update your existing listings, or create new ones before the date above.
Refurbished on eBay programme
To take advantage of the three item conditions (Excellent – Refurbished, Very Good – Refurbished, and Good – Refurbished) for your listings, you can apply to join the Refurbished on eBay programme.
The programme enhances the shopping experience by ensuring consistent quality and seller standards for refurbished products. Approved sellers gain exclusive access to programme grades, benefiting from improved visibility and a mark of approval on relevant listings.
