Etsy have this month officially announced what they’re terming New Delivery Partners, which they describe as reliable, efficient delivery services for sellers in the US, Canada, Türkiye, Germany, and France. They are billing this as giving more flexibility, especially for sellers managing inventory across multiple online marketplaces.
The reality however is a little different. The New Delivery Partners means that some sellers have previously used will no longer be supported. While you can continue using any delivery service via a third party integration (from as early as the 14th of November 2024 for some countries and as late as the 17th July2025 ) they have introduced some limitations on the data you can import from your shop – this includes addresses, the ability to mark orders as despatched and the ability to upload tracking numbers – which pretty much means a third party solution not on the approved list is rendered unusable (or at last reduced to a manual cut and paste solution).
Etsy do say that if you’ve already connected your shop to another delivery service before the 14th of November 2024, you can continue using it without any changes, so there’s no impact on your current setup…. at least that is until your connection fails and you need to use auth and auth again to reconnect at which point your solution will fail you.
Thankfully for the UK there doesn’t appear to be any restrictions on which delivery partners you use, but watch this space in case it changes.
Etsy have given no reason why they’ve cut off any delivery partners other than the favoured one or two per country. In today’s world of APIs, it really shouldn’t be too difficult to maintain as many connections from as many providers as you like, after all it’s the providers that do the integration work. One might be forgiven for thinking money may have changed hands to get on the approved list but we have absolutely no insights into whether this has happened, or if it’s simply a technology and service decision that Etsy have made.
