Walmart have updated their Prohibited Products Policy to include Beauty and Personal Care categories and this is going to have a massive impact on sellers. Moving forward, you’ll either need to be the brand owner, or be a fully authorised seller with paperwork to back this up.
Walmart are going to restrict product listings in the Beauty and Personal Care categories to ‘certain sellers’, brand owners, and authorised distributors. They’ll contact certain select sellers with an invite to participate in Walmart’s enhanced vetting programme for these products and if you don’t get notification that you’re in, then you’re probably out!
Requirements to sell in the Beauty and Personal Care categories will include seller maturity and being able to demonstrate a track record of sales on your own platform. Plus you’ll have to provide invoices proving products have come from the brand, FDA regulation docs, third party test results, and claims substantiation/safety certificates.
But the big one is that you’ll also need Letters of Authorisation from the brand owner proving that they’ve given you permission to sell these products. If you’ve source product through liquidation or other means, unless you’re authorised by the brand then it’s time to find an alternative venue to sell on.
If you use WFS (Walmart Fulfilment Services), Walmart point you to their guide on how to remove inventory from their warehouses – unless you’ve been approved as a seller they won’t be offering your stock to Walmart customers.
