From this week, TikTok are introducing a new pre-listing price check to help ensure all product prices are in line with their pricing guidelines. They say that if they detect a misleading or unreasonable price, you won’t be able to publish your listing. You’ll need to adjust your price and resubmit your listing.
TikTok Price Check Criteria
Two definitions apply to prices entered by sellers during the product listing process:
- List Price: The standard price entered during the listing process in Seller Center.
- Sale Price: Discounted or promotional price set via TikTok Shop promotional tools.
There are three types of pricing that TikTok prohibit on their platform:
Unreasonable Pricing
- Excessively high prices compared to similar products
- Multiple or fluctuating prices for the same item
- Unrealistic prices not intended for actual sale
False or Misleading Prices
- Actions intended to drive sales through misleading discounts or promotional claims, such as inconsistent pricing between product titles, images, and listing details
Breach of Price Commitments
- Engaging in practices that artificially drive user clicks and traffic, such as setting low prices or listing unavailable (out-of-stock) products
