Walmart UK Seller Summit success in London

Walmart UK Seller Summit success in London

This week the Walmart UK Seller Summit took place in London, with two main purposes – to celebrate their opening of a London office to support UK and European brands and retailers to sell on Walmart Marketplace and to introduce the marketplace to hundreds of prospective selling partners.

If you missed this event and want to discover how to get started selling on Walmart, join us at ChannelX World on the 8th October where Andrew Newton, Director of International Marketplace Expansion at Walmart will be speaking!

In just about every way, you’d have to consider the event a success! With a ribbon cutting ceremony on stage and Walmart execs having flown in from the UK, the morning was a whistle stop tour through everything Walmart have to offer, while the afternoon offered a more category specific focus and insights into sales event success.

We recently opened our London office, so you have local support where you need it, when you need it. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to scale across markets, we want to grow with you. Marketplace is not just about selling products – it’s about unlocking doors, creating economic opportunity, and driving innovation.

– Andrea Albright, Chief Growth Officer for Walmart International

Despite a tube strike severely impacting people’s ability to get around the city, the event was packed without a spare seat in the house. But perhaps the most interesting factor was that the large majority of attendees weren’t already selling on Walmart – this inaugural Walmart UK Seller Summit was focused on recruiting new brands to the marketplace.

With 270 million customers, Walmart are unique in that people that shop with them visit instore and online giving the company unprecedented insights into the way that they shop and this is the audience on offer to UK and European businesses who partner with Walmart.

And it doesn’t stop in the US, Canada is a huge market for cross border sales from Walmart Marketplace, as are Mexico and Chile. Mexico has two big sales events which don’t coincide with traditional Western sales periods and Chile is particularly attractive, as being in the Southern Hemisphere it’s an opportunity to sell out of season stock.

Walmart also laid out their logistics capabilities with Walmart Fulfillment Services – not only can they deliver your Walmart Marketplace orders, they can also fulfil orders for all your other North America platforms, shipping in plain boxes and they claim to do this at around 15% lower cost than their competitors. And if it’s inbound that you’re interested in, Walmart services are available to ship your goods from ports in China, Vietnam and India direct into Walmarts fulfillment centres.

We offer you an unmatched opportunity to reach a highly loyal customer base that is shopping across physical and digital channels. Our customer base spans demographics and is one of the most coveted audiences in retail

– Manish Joneja, SVP, Walmart U.S. Marketplace & Walmart Fulfillment Services

If you’re already selling in the US, Walmart Marketplace has to be a default channel for your business, and if you’re not yet selling in America then it’s a great channel to start with. As Aroldo Filizola, Senior Director of Account Management for Walmart International Marketplace said at the Walmart UK Seller Summit:

Our vision is simple: list once, sell everywhere

– Aroldo Filizola, Senior Director of Account Management, Walmart International Marketplace
