Debenhams are to take some of their leading brands online across the United States. They are bringing Coast Fashion, Warehouse Fashions, Oasis Fashion, Nasty Gal, and Karen Millen to US customers through Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.
Through our partners at Refined Networks, we’re putting British fashion back in the spotlight where it belongs, in front of one of the world’s largest retail markets.
But this isn’t just about the US. We’re thinking bigger than that: we’re reigniting our business to connect with fashion-conscious customers worldwide once again.
The appetite for iconic British fashion internationally is there – and we’re ready to deliver.– Daniel Finley, CEO, Debenhams Group
What’s interesting here, is that in the UK Debenhams are a marketplace, but they’re drawing on the expertise of Refined Networks to sell through US department stores as a marketplace seller. This puts them on both sides of the fence as both a seller and a marketplace operator.
This is great news for Debenhams marketplace sellers – by exposing their biggest own-label brands in the US they are building awareness of the UK’s oldest department store (albeit today reborn as online only). What this means is that if and when Debenhams decide to launch their marketplace in the US, there will already be a stream of Debenhams Group customers who have interacted with the brand and are willing to buy from the Debenhams name, and by default from Debenhams marketplace sellers.
