The most sought-after Halloween looks on eBay UK

Halloween 2025 is creeping closer – and this year, it’s all about nostalgia, pop culture, and a dash of classic horror, according to the latest eBay data. Searches for ‘Halloween costume’ on eBay UK rise by an impressive 169% in September, and pop culture is clearly leading the way:

  • Rumi costume (+211%)
  • Harley Quinn Adult costumes (+312%)
  • Michael Myers Mask (+116%)
  • There was a 56% increase in searches for ‘Witches Hat’ on eBay last week
  • There were 29,857 searches for ‘Halloween Costume’ on eBay last week

And it’s not just the modern icons making waves. Masks and outfits inspired by the legendary horror film Scream are also among the most sought-after pieces this season.

For private sellers, it’s the perfect time to dust off the costume box and cash in on the Halloween buzz. With the cultural move to classic and vintage/nostalgic vibes, yesterday’s favourite fancy dress could easily become this year’s must-have. With demand this strong, eBay is the place to make it happen.

Top Halloween selling tips for success on eBay:

  1. Snap it & sell it – spooky fast: Listing your Halloween must-haves has never been easier. With eBay’s app, just snap a photo and AI helps you write a title, choose a price and category.
  2. Add the boring bits – buyers love filters: Size, colour, brand, condition: it may not scream Halloween, but ticking those boxes helps your vampire cloak or pumpkin lights show up when people search. The more complete your listing, the better chance your buyers have of finding your item.
  3. Title like a pro – skip the fluff: “Cute outfit” won’t get clicks – but “Kids Skeleton Costume Age 6-8 Glow-in-the-Dark” is much stronger. Use the words buyers actually search for: theme, size, colour, brand. Clear titles = more eyeballs
  4. Check what it’s really worth: Click “sold items” in search to see what similar Halloween items have gone for. Whether it’s animatronic ghosts or vintage masks, pricing guidance helps you list smarter. You can also use eBay’s in-app research feature to find pricing and sales insights for items that have recently sold.
  5. Shoot to sell – great photos matter: No one buys what they can’t see. Use natural light, shoot from different angles, and try eBay’s background remover for a clean look. Show off costume details, spooky textures, and packaging. You can upload up to 24 photos – make them count.
  6. Auction or ‘Buy It Now’? Pick the right format: Want a quick sale before Halloween night? Use ‘Buy It Now’ with a fair price based on sold listings. Got something rare or collectible? Try a 7-day auction to build excitement. Pro tip: end your auction on a Sunday evening – it’s prime browsing time.
  7. Time it right – Halloween waits for no one:Halloween’s almost here, and last-minute buyers are scrambling for costumes, décor, and party essentials. Miss the window, and you’ll be left with cobwebs.
  8. Make shipping a breeze: eBay’s Simple Delivery service recommends prepaid, tracked shipping options based on similar items. Selling bulky props or costumes? Offer local collection – easy for you, easy for the buyer.

And, for private sellers, every penny stays with you – It’s free to sell on eBay UK, so your earnings can go towards a wardrobe refresh, a costume upgrade, or a dream purchase.
