In their half year results, Kingfisher revealed that their B&Q marketplace GMV increased by +45.4% YoY to £228m leading to a retail profit contribution of £7m. This is massive growth for a marketplace that only three years ago!
What’s also interesting is that marketplaces are driving incremental traffic that directly benefits B&Q’s only sales. They’ve shared that around 50% of B&Q’s marketplace customers are new to DIY.com, and that around 15% of these new shoppers go on to purchase a B&Q owned product.
But perhaps what’s more interesting is that the B&Q marketplace has have unlocked cross-border vendor onboarding with the most recent country to be enabled is the massive German territory. German sellers can now join those from Ireland, Italy, Poland, The Netherlands and Spain to sell on B&Q in the UK.
