Gumtree, one of the UK’s most popular online marketplaces, has announced the launch of Delivery on Gumtree allowing users to pay for items securely on the marketplace and get them delivered to buyers nationwide for the first time in its 25 year history.
This is massively significant as for decades Gumtree has been a classified ads site, but is now one of the biggest C2C marketplaces in the UK with a brand and audience already in place. And of course Gumtree already has certain business features (notably in motors, recruitment and property), so it would be no surprise to see them setting up to become a B2C player in the near future for more categories.
Beginning in select categories – Clothing, Footwear, Baby & Kids and Accessories – before wider rollout in 2026, the new all-in-one payment and delivery service will provide buyers with the choice of getting their purchase delivered to them, as well as the option of collecting the item locally.

Using Delivery on Gumtree on the marketplace will give both buyers and sellers greater choice and selection of items, ensuring they have an effortless and enjoyable experience on the platform.
How Delivery on Gumtree works
- Post an Ad: When creating a clothing or accessories Ad, delivery is enabled so the correct parcel size needs to be selected
- Buyer pays: The delivery cost is calculated and paid for by the buyer automatically when they check out
- Send the item: Once the item sells, a prepaid QR code or printable label from the delivery partner will be provided so you can drop off the parcel
- Get paid securely: All payments are processed securely through the secure payment provider and funds are held safely until delivery is confirmed
