TikTok Shop has confirmed a significant update to its US logistics policy, fundamentally changing how orders must be fulfilled on the platform with Seller Shipping to be phased out. Huge thanks to our friends at Voila for highlighting these changes.
Based on direct communications sent to sellers and updates now reflected in TikTok Shop’s official documentation, Seller Shipping is being phased out. From early 2026, orders must be fulfilled exclusively via TikTok Shop Logistics Services, including Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT), Upgraded TikTok Shipping, or Collections by TikTok (CBT).
The policy applies to both US-based sellers operating domestically and cross-border sellers located outside the United States but selling into the US market. The rollout will take place gradually between February 25 and March 31, 2026 for existing sellers, while any seller onboarding on or after February 9, 2026 will be required to use TikTok-managed logistics from the outset.
Operational impact raises questions for established sellers
The change is designed to improve delivery consistency, tracking reliability, and platform-wide performance standards. However, it has introduced immediate operational challenges for many sellers with established fulfilment environments.
The policy change has triggered a wide range of reactions across the seller community. Although the move is seen as part of TikTok’s broader effort to standardise delivery performance, many sellers have expressed concern about the operational disruption caused by compressed timelines and limited flexibility.
This concern is particularly acute for merchants running mature fulfilment setups built around existing ERP systems, WMS platforms, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs), where rapid structural change is neither trivial nor low-risk.
Commercial implications beyond shipping
Beyond the immediate fulfilment implications, the policy change is also creating wider commercial challenges for established retailers. Many sellers operate under volume-based contracts with courier partners, where committed shipping volumes are tied to negotiated rates and service terms.
As more order volume is redirected through TikTok-managed logistics services, some retailers risk falling below contracted thresholds with existing carriers. This can trigger contractual penalties, force renegotiation of rates, or reduce leverage in future carrier agreements, adding further complexity at a time when sellers are already under pressure to adapt operationally.
Native integrations, but limited coverage
TikTok Shop currently supports direct logistics integrations with a limited set of fulfilment and shipping platforms, allowing some sellers to continue operating with minimal change.
However, a large proportion of sellers fall outside this group and rely on ERP, WMS, or 3PL systems that are not natively supported. For these businesses, the challenge is not whether to comply, but how to do so without replacing systems that underpin their entire fulfilment operation.
From replatforming to connectivity
As sellers reassess their options, a key distinction is emerging between changing fulfilment logic and connecting to a new shipping and compliance layer.
For many merchants, the challenge is not a lack of willingness to comply, but feasibility. If sellers can’t or won’t change ERP or WMS systems in a short timeframe, the question becomes how to remain compliant without rebuilding their entire fulfilment stack. Connectivity platforms like Voila address this by linking TikTok Shop Logistics to existing fulfilment operations.
Voila operates as a connective layer between TikTok Shop and a merchant’s current warehouse or 3PL setup. Through this approach, sellers can:
- Generate TikTok-compliant shipping labels
- Transmit tracking and delivery events
- Share delivery performance data required by TikTok
all without changing how fulfilment operations actually run.
Compliance does not have to mean fragility
As enforcement timelines approach, sellers are increasingly focused on solutions that allow them to adapt quickly while protecting operational stability.
Rather than forcing a single fulfilment model or triggering large-scale replatforming projects, connectivity-led approaches offer a pragmatic middle ground; enabling compliance with TikTok Shop’s logistics requirements while preserving flexibility, resilience, and continuity within existing fulfilment environments.
Looking ahead
While the policy currently applies to TikTok Shop US, it reflects a broader trend across marketplaces toward tighter logistics control as commerce volumes scale.
For sellers, the coming months will be defined by how effectively they balance compliance, speed of adaptation, and operational risk. Approaches that avoid unnecessary rebuilds while meeting platform standards are expected to play an increasingly important role in that transition.

One Response
If TikTok are doing the shipping, will they still be giving the buyers a refund and reclaiming the cost of the order from the sellers if delivery isn’t within the timescale mandated by TikTok’s policy ? Will sellers be allowed to claim in full from TikTok Logistics ?
