Checkatrade Marketplace to launch this Spring

There’s going to be a brand new channel in the UK, where homeowners can buy everything that they need to improve their home – before, during, and after hiring a tradesperson. The Checkatrade Marketplace launch is imminent and they’re ready to start recruiting sellers for the new marketplace.

The launch of the Checkatrade Marketplace is a natural evolution of the platform. Having already built a well recognised, trusted and scaled service layer connecting millions of consumers with vetted trades, they are uniquely positioned to seamlessly weave materials, products, and services into a single, integrated ecosystem.

How Consumers and Trades will use Checkatrade Marketplace

Today, Checkatrade supports a network of approximately 50,000 trade businesses (representing over 100,000 tradespeople) and attracts millions of consumers to Checkatrade.com each year. This scale offers a powerful foundation to extend beyond introductions and play an even more meaningful part in the end to end home improvement journey.

B2B Selling – Trades

The Checkatrade Marketplace builds on this by enabling trades to source the tools, materials, and services they need to operate, directly within the platform they already rely on to win work.

B2C Selling – Consumers

At the same time, consumers benefit from a more complete experience, moving from finding a trusted tradesperson to accessing the products and items required to furnish, finish and complete the job, all in one place.

B2B2C Selling – Trade Shops

A key component of this evolution is also the introduction of a trade shops layer. This will enable and incentivise trades to recommend and surface relevant products from the Marketplace directly to consumers as part of their workflow. By embedding product recommendations into the service journey, we create a more connected experience, where trades can guide purchasing decisions and consumers gain confidence through trusted, professional input.

By embedding commerce into their existing journey, Checkatrade:

  • Enhance the value of their service layer, connecting demand (jobs) with supply (trades) and now materials
  • Leverage trades as a trusted distribution channel, through trade shops and incentivised product recommendations
  • Reduce friction across the home improvement lifecycle, from discovery through to completion
  • Deepen engagement with trades, supporting both customer acquisition and day to day business needs

Ultimately, the Marketplace positions Checkatrade as more than a connection platform, it will be a fully integrated home improvement ecosystem, where services and materials are brought together to deliver better outcomes for both trades and consumers.

Integrations

And the good news for sellers on the Checkatrade Marketplace, it will be powered by Esetrix which is already integrated with Base and Linnworks, as well as BigCommerce, Shopify, and Wix, meaning that integrating into your current tech stack will be straightforward.

Checkatrade Brunch and Onboarding

We will be hosting a brunch in London on the 13th of May, to give sellers in core categories (Painting & Decorating, Bathrooms, Flooring, Garden, Lighting, Tools, and Other/finishing categories) the opportunity to meet Checkatrade in person and access fast onboarding. We currently sell our paints on all make UK MARKETPLACES, including, Amazon, DIY.com, Tesco and The Range. Our new Shopify website will launch on the 1st May 2026.
