Etsy has decided to up their surcharge called their Regulatory Operating Fee, as they say that costs of compliance have risen.
This is why here at ChannelX we aren’t huge fans of surcharges – it’s way to easy to up a sellers costs without having to go through the trouble of changing selling fees. As Etsy’s Regulatory Operating Fee is effectively a surcharge, it’s the same as courier fuel surcharges, they can go up very easily… and in Etsy’s case they have – they’ve almost doubled since first being introduced in 2021.
Etsy Regulatory Operating Fee
- June 2021 Original Fee 0.25%
- July 2023 Etsy Fee Increase to 0.32%
- June 2026 Etsy Fee Increase to 0.48%
This fee applies to your listing price and postage, plus any gift wrapping or personalisation options that are charged to your buyer.
We introduced Regulatory Operating Fees in certain countries in 2021 to help cover the rising costs of operating under local government regulations. We review these fees each year to make sure they reflect the cost of doing business in each region.
Due to new regulations in the UK, those costs have increased.
Starting on 22 June 2026, the Regulatory Operating Fee will increase from 0.32% to 0.48% on orders from your shop. You’ll continue to see the fee as a line item in your Payment account once the updated rate takes effect. No action from you is needed.
This fee helps us continue supporting sellers in your region while meeting local requirements.
