Vinted Australia has been launched, with it’s normal free to sell model replicated, meaning that Australians can now sell their pre-loved fashion for free.
It’s not quite so free to buy though, as is normal on Vinted buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee on each transaction which is set at 5% of the item price plus $0.70 AUD.
Selling & Buying on Vinted Australia
Sellers on Australia will need to download the Vinted app and then they can list, print off pre-paid shipping labels once sold and must drop their item off within 5 days. Payment is once the item is received by the buyer.
Vinted has also linked selling in Australia a new international connection powered by InPost – essentially it enables UK sellers to ship to Australia without worrying about any additional steps or customs duty which Vinted will take care of handling. The only caveats are that items must weigh less then 2kg and be valued under £110.
Sellers in Australia can also ship to the UK where items need to be valued under $920 AUD.
When buying, again it’s the Vinted app that’s needed, payment is via PayPal, bank card, Apple Pay or Vinted Balance and generally the buyer covers the return cost if there’s a problem with the item.
Vinted Australia is interesting as, not only does it give a boost to recommerce in Australia, but it’s also been connected to the UK for international selling before much of Europe. This indicates that there may be more expected demand for products between the two countries, and likely that Vinted believe that inventory available in the UK can help plug some early holes in inventory available in Australia. Plus of course, there’s very little in the way of language barriers barring some localised product naming.
