On TikTok Shop, sports memorabilia has grown 136% from January to June, driven primarily by signed jerseys from world-renowned athletes. Since May, searches for “football shirts” have tripled, with orders quadrupaling since the The World Cup kicked off.
Fan Cave Memorabilia, a UK independent sports memorabilia brand, know a thing or two about secondhand sports kits. Since joining TikTok Shop a year ago, they’ve gone from a 2,000 sq ft space to a 12,000 sq ft warehouse, now shipping 2,500 products a month and running LIVE sessions seven days a week.
During the tournament, Fan Cave Memorabilia hosted a LIVE Shopping session directly from the England Fan Zone, auctioning off signed jerseys, with an iconic signed Maradona jersey on offer. Perhaps anticipating the final results ahead of time, the shirt sold for over £1,000, the largest LIVE sale Fan Cave Memorabilia has made to date.
Whilst Argentina might be breaking records (and hearts) on TikTok Shop, it’s not all doom and gloom. Searches for “England World Cup Kit” shot up by over +2,000% in the first two weeks of the tournament alone. On TikTok users have shared 15.7 million+ World Cup-related hashtag posts since 11th June, making it the biggest football tournament on the platform to date.
As the World Cup comes to a close, it’s clear that TikTok Shop is a leading destination, not just for second-hand shirts and kits, but for sports items of all kinds.
