Searches on eBay UK for “pre-owned golf club sets” have risen 96% year-on-year as new research points to a growing appetite for golf among a new generation – with eBay Live heading to the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week.
More than two in five (42%) Gen Z adults say their interest in playing golf has increased over the past five years, while more than half (55%) of aspiring golfers say they’ve delayed getting into the sport because of equipment costs.
The research also highlights a desire for guidance when choosing what to buy. Two-thirds (66%) of aspiring golfers say they would find live shopping useful when buying golf equipment, while more than a third (36%) want advice on what a beginner needs and 26% want to see products demonstrated before buying.
This comes as eBay sees growing interest in pre-loved golf equipment, with searches on eBay.co.uk for “pre-owned golf clubs” also up 43% year-on-year.
