If you’re not a frequent Gumtree user you may be unaware that each Gumtree city acts as if it was a separate website. Searching Reading won’t show me results from Gumtree Oxford and vice versa, even though I live equidistant from both locations. Equally I’d be happy to travel to Winchester which is covered by Southampton Gumtree, but that’s a third site to search.
There’s a neat solution though, ILUMU.COM allows you to search all the Gumtree cities in the UK, or to narrow search results to a particular geographic region. Simply enter your search term and then drill down by region to find the items closest to where you live.
Mind you, it might throw up a few anomalies but that’s not the fault of Ilumu – A recent Twitter conversation between Gumtree and @wiltshireway has established that Swindon definitely is in the South West of England and not as previously thought in the South East 😀
