Have you noticed the new “Electronics” tab at the top of eBay, alongside the Categories, Fashion and Daily Deals?
Clicking into the Electronics tab takes you to a dedicated page promoting Mobile Phones, iPads Tablets and eReaders, Printers and Scanners, Cameras and Games. There are electronic deals promoted along with the latest electronics from top sellers. The lower section of the page highlights some of eBay’s electronic best sellers and this is the part of the page that most sellers should be interested in.
All of the best selling electronic items link to eBay product pages. The product page gathers together items matched with eBay catalogue, and this is one of the reasons that eBay have made matching items you sell to eBay’s catalogue. By matching products from different sellers eBay can present a choice of buying options and display all of the items available that are an exact match to what the buyer is looking for.
Currently eBay search results don’t appear to always display product pages, but expect this to change as more and more listings are matched. Also if you’re a Top Rated Seller there’s a chance that your item could be prominently displayed at the top of the eBay product page which itself is a compelling reason to match your products against eBay’s catalogue.
Electronics are always popular purchases in the run up to Christmas. This year that’ll be even more so with the upcoming launch of the iPhone 5 which is sure to drive sales of used older models.
Hopefully electronics will now get the same exposure and coverage that fashion has received on eBay – as a seller of electronics that’ll please me but what about buyers? Would the encourage you to spend more on eBay?
