Do take a look at the Amazon Trends report that was released recently. It’s full of interesting facts and developments and also displays huge confidence that reflects the ecommerce giant’s increasing ubiquity. One heartening statistic in the report is the claim that Amazon merchants in the UK have created 74k jobs in the UK. That’s a staggering figure.
As Doug Gurr, Amazon UK MD says in the introduction of the report: “Looking ahead to the rest of 2016, we’ll continue investing in our business throughout the UK. We’ve announced plans to open two new ful lment centres, and are creating thousands of jobs across our head o ce in London, three UK- based research & development centres, customer service centre and our ful lment operations.”
Other points in the report say that there has been a 20% increase of sellers turning over £1m a year. Amazon sellers are going global and the number of international sellers is up 50%. Across the board, Amazon EU sales are up 33% since 2015, £1.4bn of goods have been exported by sellers and they say that investment in their infrastructure is significant. They’ve invested £4.6 billion in the UK since 2010 and a total of €15 billion across Europe. Amazon seems unstoppable.
