CitySprint have announced that it’s looking to hire more than 1000 additional couriers in preparation for the Christmas rush of same day deliveries.
The new recruits will join CitySprint’s fleet of more than 3,500 couriers across the UK, helping to ease the increased pressure on the delivery network, to support their high growth segments such as ecommerce and food delivery, and also to ensure a smooth service for clients throughout peak season.
For CitySprint, the increased demand starts before Black Friday and runs right through until Christmas itself. Last year, the busiest day for the distribution network was Tuesday 20th December as Brits put the final preparations in before Christmas.

“Peak season is one of the most demanding times of the year for our customers, with delivery volumes increasing significantly both for CitySprint and our retail brand, On the dot. We are committed to providing each of our clients with a first-class service all year round, which is why we’re pulling out all the stops to ensure our fleet is prepared to face anything that comes our way.”

CitySprint’s On the dot proposition
If you’re not familiar with On the dot the proposition is well worth taking a look. Essentially it enables you to offer same day timed hour deliveries within a five mile delivery radius from any retail premises (or warehouse!). Whilst if you’re a large retailer it makes sense to go for a full integration if you want to offer local deliveries on a regular basis, you can simply order a single delivery through the On the dot consumer portal.
At this the busiest time of year, if a customer rings up and asks if you have something in stock for local collection, offer them a delivery as it might win you the deal. You can book a single delivery for around £6.95 or buy bundles for prices as low as £4.50 per delivery.
