Episerver have triumphed to be crowned The Ecommerce Cup 2019 winners after a hard fought final against previous winners Just Eat.
The final was one of the most exciting games of the entire tournament, with 8 goals seeing both side level at 4-4 until a long distance shot from Episerver blasted into their opposition’s goal immediately followed by a superb back flip celebration. With just minutes left to play, Just Eat didn’t give and inch with rocket powered shot after shot on goal just to be thwarted by a, probably very bruised, but superb goal keeper. We have to mention Just Eat’s goal keeper too who throughout the day was heroic and saved many a shot.
After the group stages, the top 16 teams progressed to play for The Ecommerce Cup with the next best placed 16 teams playing for the Ecommerce Shield which this year went to ChannelAdvisor.
With 42 teams entered, The Ecommerce Cup 2019 Winners had a lot of competition to get through and as always there were some superb teams standing in their way. After multiple matches in the group stages, Episerver had to get through their last sixteen game followed by the quarters and semis just to get to the final. Both Just Eat and Episever’s energy was amazing considering they’d been playing since lunch time and it was now knocking on 6pm.
This was the biggest tournament ever with way over 300 players on the 10 pitches, not to mention the supporters that came along, so Pitch 2 was rammed for the team briefing. The Ecommerce Cup has almost exceeded capacity for the PlayFootball Shepherd’s Bush venue so if you want to enter next year make sure you get your team registered as soon as the date is announced. As always the games were hard fought but off the pitch players were cheering on their friends and socialising in the bar.
A special thanks to the staff and referees at PlayFootball Shepherds Bush for keeping the matches running smoothly and keeping the league tables updated on TV screens throughout the venue. The team there do a fantastic job for us each year and I’m already looking forward to The Ecommerce Cup 2020.
