Royal Mail unveils UK’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday hotspots for online shopping

Royal Mail has revealed the UK’s hotspots for online shopping on this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Analysis of the parcels sent through the Royal Mail network by online retailers and e-commerce businesses between the 26th of November and 3rd of December show exactly where most of the online shopping has taken place. Top areas include Central London, Kirkwall in Scotland and Llandrindod Wells in Wales.

Black Friday is now widely considered the start of the festive season in the UK and Royal Mail has found in recent research that almost half of festive consumers do most, if not all of their shopping online. The ability to shop at any time of the day, in the comfort of your own home with easy price comparison, is part of why online shopping is becoming more popular in the lead up to Christmas.

“We have looked at parcel delivery data across our network of delivery offices and this has revealed that Central London is the UK’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday online shopping hotspot for 2019. The data shows that parcel delivery at Christmas is just as important for our rural customers as it is for our city customers. We take the planning for the festive period very seriously and start preparing for the next year the moment the current one is over.”
