The UK and EU are both going to put VAT reforms in place during 2021, to simplify compliance obligations and reduce VAT fraud. They will also seek to make online marketplaces liable for the VAT obligations on many transactions of their third-party sellers. These changes will take place in the UK on the 1st of January 2021 and, due to the pandemic slightly delayed, on the 1st of July 2021 in the EU.

Whether you are a seller or marketplace you will need to understand these fundamental reforms to your obligations to avoid extra VAT costs and a bad customer experience.

Our chums at Avalara have put an entire microsite together covering everything you need to know about 2021 EU & UK ecommerce VAT reforms. However if after reading you still have questions, Richard Asquith, VP Global Indirect Tax at Avalara is joining Tamebay for a webinar on Wednesday the 25th of November at 2pm to talk through the VAt reforms in simple terms and explain how the changes will impact your business.
