Amazon FBA April 2021 and pre-paid returns price updates

There have been some important Amazon FBA April 2021 changes with both the FBA new selection and Heavy and Bulky programmes giving you new options for selling. Alongside these changes which come in on the 1st of April, there is also a pre-paid return label price change due to the recent Royal Mail updated tariff.

Pre-paid return labels price increase

The cost of pre-paid return labels purchased through Buy Shipping Services from Royal Mail for seller-fulfilled items under 2 kg have risen. From the 1st of April, the rate for pre-paid Royal Mail returns increased from £2.71 to £2.79 (excluding VAT). This increase is due to the Royal Mail annual tariff update.

FBA New Selection programme

Amazon have expanded the benefits of the FBA New Selection programme.

The programme now offers free storage, removals and return processing benefits on an unlimited number of eligible standard-size and oversize ASINs. For Clothing, Shoes and Handbags, Amazon have expanded the free storage and removal benefits from 50 units to 100 units and increased the storage fee waiver duration from 90 days to 120 days. In addition, the waiver of customer returns processing fees for these categories has also been extended from 120 days to 180 days and applies to up to 20 units. Eligible sellers can also receive promotional credits for sponsored ads.

The FBA New Selection programme applies to Amazon stores in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

Heavy and Bulky programme

Amazon have launching Heavy and Bulky in the UK from the 1st of April with massively increased dimension and weight allowances. This will enable sellers of furniture, white goods, bikes, treadmills and the like to pop stock into FBA and leave Amazon to fulfil.

The Heavy and Bulky maximum dimensions and weight criteria for FBA will increase in the big five European countries – United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. This will allow you to use FBA to fulfil domestic customer orders on single-box, Amazon Barcoded selection that meets Heavy and bulky criteria

New Heavy and Bulky dimensions will allow for items over the large and heavy limits of 175cm Length, heavier than 31.5kg Weight or fatter than a 360cm Girth. The new maximum dimensions appear to be up to 300cm in Length with no Girth limit (but in France, Italy and Spain up to 662cm Length). Weights of up to 140kg in the UK and a truly humongous 300kg in France appear to be acceptable
