New applications are not currently being accepted for the Amazon Mastercard, if you have one it will soon be discontinued. This applies to both the Amazon Classic and the Platinum Credit Card
If you already have an Amazon Mastercard, NewDay will soon contact you about upcoming changes to your account. You can also check your Amazon Mastercard app or Online Account Manager for updates.
Originally the date NewDay’s partnership with Amazon was due to end in January 2023, but this appears to have been brought forward.
The big benefits of the Amazon Platinum Credit Card was a bonus discount on your first purchase for signing up and the ability to collect points for prizes – a £10 Amazon discount voucher for every 1,000 points saved. Like the Amazon Platinum Credit Card, the Classic came with a £20 signing up bonus for your first purchase.
Amazon Mastercard holders will generally be offered a Pulse credit card as a replacement, but this won’t be Amazon branded and you’ll stop gaining points to spend on Amazon. If you haven’t been using your card you may not be offered the choice of a Pulse card.
If you don’t want a Pulse card or fail to activate it, your existing Amazon card should continue to work until January 2023, but you won’t gain points after mid-November. Best advice if you want a replacement credit card and weren’t simply using it to gain points to spend on Amazon is to shop around – the replacement Pulse might not be best suited for your needs and you are under no obligation to accept one.
