TikTok paid subscriptions could be in the works

Not long after Instagram Subscriptions was announced, a report from The Information reveals that TikTok paid subscriptions could be on the horizon too. If this idea grows to fruition then creators on the platform could charge their audience a subscription fee to access their content.

Brands on TikTok

During the pandemic, TikTok managed to reach the hearts of a variety of businesses who found they could reach a huge audience on the platform. TikTok paid subscriptions could really stand out as a great new business model for those who take advantage of TikTok’s ability to capture and retain new audiences quickly. Platforms like TikTok are interesting, they have created an emersive experience that is often over in seconds. Users can quickly swipe through lots of videos making it easy for people to use, giving creators the chance to reach people much easier. Sellers who already offer tutorials or services through subscriptions in other places will be able to use it as another revenue avenue by offering subscribers limited products, sneak peeks and even lessons or tutorials to an evergrowing audience.

Instagram Subscription

This news comes shortly after Instagram implemented a similar feature allowing creators to earn monthly subscriptions through their audiences. As defined by Instagram the feature will help creators develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits, all within the same platform where they interact with them already.

  • Subscriber Lives: Creators can broadcast exclusive Lives to their subscribers, allowing them to engage more deeply.
  • Subscriber Stories: Creators can create stories just for their subscribers, allowing them to share exclusive content and to use interactive story stickers with their most engaged followers only.
  • Subscriber Badges: Creators will see a subscriber badge next to comments and messages so they can easily identify their subscribers.
