a “cheap listing weekend” for the 8th and 9th March. Auctions with a start price of 99p or lower get free insertion fees.
Do read the small print on this one: as normal, there is a list of ineligible categories (motors, property, mobile phones with contracts): buy it now items and multiple item (Dutch) auctions are also excluded.
Running over a weekend, with plenty of notice, and pitched at low-start auctions, one might think this was a promotion designed to appeal to casual and hobby sellers; in fact says as much: “You’re free to list as many items as you like, so why not take advantage of this offer and have a spring clearout?”
No doubt there’ll be a striker or two seeing this as eBay’s attempt to lure them back to the path of righteousness, but I think it’s too soon after the fee changes to see this as eBay’s reaction to seller reaction to those changes. The UK almost always has a listing promotion in the second week of the month; sometimes, a listing promotion is just a listing promotion.

I would take this as more of ebays attempt to get the jumble sale feeling back.
Not many business selllers do 99p auctons in any number and a 10p saving isn’t a lot BUT it amounts to free listing for new sellers if they are dull enough not to use gallery
The thing is, Swan, I’m not sure that the jumble sale feeling is what eBay want anymore. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s what they *don’t* want.
There is of course the old
theoryfact that buyers who’ve sold a thing or two become much more loyal sellers. I can’t explain that, but apparently it’s true.99p. 😐 whooo and indeed whooo.
99p Auctions, hmmmmm let me see what I could do elsewhere to make my business as profitable as eBay. I could sell £10 notes for £9, that’s a start. 😆
Well there’s one seller that wont be wasting time or money on the biggest eBay crapfest in years. 🙂
Sorry if it’s a daft question but I recently scheduled a bunch of stuff to start on 20th, which I uploaded via TL2. Presumably I’ll still get the free insertion automatically if I reschedule them to the 8th & 9th in ‘my ebay’? Or are the fees calculated from the start date I put into TL2?
Yes Sam: fees are charged at the point that the listing goes live, so if you reschedule, you’ll get the freebie.
99p. 😐 whooo and indeed whooo.
Indeed.
