Someone at eBay has been hit with the generous stick today: I spent the vast sum of a fiver on a bluetooth dongle, and have been rewarded with a voucher for 10% off my next purchase, up to a total of £70.
There’s no email and nothing in My Messages, but the little message above popped up at the top of my screen, and there’s a new “Vouchers” section in My eBay, showing that it is genuine. Most helpfully, in case I can’t work out 10% off all by myself, eBay are showing me how items I look at might be reduced in price if I use my voucher:
I haven’t seen any publicity regarding this so far, though in the run up to Christmas, eBay do traditionally do some couponing. It’s one voucher per registered user, so if you get one, save it for a more expensive purchase. And according to the T&Cs, the offer is for “targeted ebay.co.uk registered users” – so eBay might want to look again at why my French-registered ID which nonetheless shops on eBay UK is getting vouchers, otherwise there’ll be some disappointed European buyers around.
