Skype linked with Facebook for partnership deal

There’s a screen shot on the Internet of Skype version 5 and it’s got full facebook integration. According to Kara Swisher an announcement is imminent telling of the integration of Skype voice and messaging with Facebook Connect.

This would allow you to contact your Facebook friends direct through Skype. Skype would benefit from 1/2 billion Facebook users (although some probably already have Skype accounts) and Facebook would get a boost from Skypes 1/2 billion users.

It’s an interesting move, although plenty of other potential suitors such as Google and Cisco have also been touted as possible partners or purchasers for Skype. Currently eBay still hold a minority stake holding in Skype so what’s good for Skype is good for them.

It’s also worth noting that having canceled Skype buttons from eBay listings on the new user profiles in the community hub you can add your Skype ID have have a live chat button on eBay.

I have to say having been vilified for purchasing Skype in the first place and then managing to offload it’s problem child, eBay are typically late in the day to re-integrating Skype on the site. One does wonder sometimes what goes through the eBay execs minds as they buy and sell, integrate and scrap products only to resurrect them as an afterthought in the future.
