Alibaba brings Verification Program to Europe

Alibaba have updated their Verified Membership program to make it available to suppliers in Europe. It’s a free service aimed at Alibaba.com’s non-paying suppliers.

“Verification helps to establish trust with potential buyers and helps suppliers distinguish themselves from hundreds of thousands of non-verified suppliers who market their products through Alibaba.com” explained Bhushan Arun Patil, site operations director for the program.

What this means for you is that if you sell on Alibaba you can assure potential buyers that you’re a real company and also verified members achieve higher search rankings than free members. Alibaba tell us that becoming a verified member on Alibaba typically boosts product views by 4-5 times and receive three times more buyer enquiries than non-verified sellers.

Verified Members are those suppliers who have passed authentication and verification by Alibaba. This typically includes Alibaba checking government records, such as tax ID numbers, and other sources to confirm a company is real and to verify its contact and other information is accurate.

So far, about 8,000 suppliers have been verified, enabling them to post a special logo on their Alibaba online storefronts. If you would like to become a Verified Alibaba member all you need is to provide them with valid information about your company, and they’ll take care of the verification. You’ll need an Alibaba.com account to apply for Verified Member status.

If you’re buying on Alibaba look out for the Verified Member Trust Seal as you can be confident that these companies are legitimate. Verification is currently available for Alibaba members in European countries as well as the US, India and Malaysia.
