Many PayPal users in Germany are up in arms as they’ve received an email telling them that they’ve won €500 and will find the money available to spend in their PayPal accounts.
There is a draw taking place but PayPal say “Unfortunately, this email has been sent due to a technical error. For this we apologize. The draw has not yet taken place. We just identified the transactions of our customers who are eligible. Then there will be a raffle amongst the eligible customers and the winners will be notified in a separate email”.
Judging by the number of comments on PayPal Germany’s facebook page and Twitter the email went out to 100s if not 1000s of German PayPal users.

If we find out how PayPal intend to clear this mess up we’ll let you know. Currently it appears that there should only have been 10 winners per day. The winners should have been drawn from PayPal users that had made a purchase with their PayPal account that week.
