It’s widely expected that the product launch Amazon has scheduled for the 18th of June will be the unveiling of their long awaited smart phone.
Details are sketchy, but it would be reasonable to expect a modified version of Amazon’s Fire operating system, a highly customised version of Android. Screen size is expected to be around 4.7″ making it a sizeable phone but what’s really special is the rumoured four forward facing cameras to track eye retina movement supposedly to give 3D images without the need for 3D glasses.
3D might seem a bit gimicky for a mobile phone, but if as expected you’ll be using the Amazon App then it could potentially turn those 2D product images into 3D images allowing you to rotate and view products almost as well as in a high street shop window display.
It’s not going to be a budget smart phone, but pricing is expected to be mid range and it’s also likely Amazon will throw in some prime benefits of video and streaming music to sweeten the deal.
We’ll have more news after the launch, but in the mean time here’s Amazon’s teaser video for the launch.
