WeengsLooking to remove the hassle of packing and shipping products, today London startup, Weengs announced the launch of an on-demand delivery service to help busy city professionals and home businesses save time and money on their shipping expenditures.

For a flat fee of £5.00 per collection plus the cost of delivery, Weengs provides customers with an instant postage and packaging solution – users simply take a picture of the unpacked item they would like to send via their (currently iPhone only) app and press the ‘Pickup Now’ button. A Weengs Angel is immediately dispatched to their home or office to collect the item within 15 minutes of the request.

Weengs CollectionItems are then taken to central hubs to be carefully and professionally wrapped at no extra cost, before being distributed by one of Weengs’ partner carriers, which include Royal Mail, ParcelForce, Hermes, UPS and DHL, determined by who offers the best-value option. For international deliveries, Weengs also offers to handle all documentation required for International Customs.

Commenting on the launch, Greg Zontanos, Co-Founder at Weengs said: “With on-demand TV, 24 hour shopping and services like Uber on the market, consumers now regularly expect instant gratification. So we built Weengs with that in mind, creating a service that made it easy to ship anything, anywhere for the best price at the tap of a button.”

This might sound like an expensive service for lazy people, but by the time you take into account buying and collecting suitable packaging materials and then travel to a post office or drop off point it’s not a bad deal. Plus it’s £5.00 per collection, not per item which makes it a much more reasonable proposition.

If you take the typical casual eBayer who lists half a dozen items on auction which all end (and are hopefully paid for) at roughly the same time, they could have the whole lot collected and shipped for a fiver plus delivery costs. Sounds a bit like a bargain to me!

Weengs are currently operating in selected areas in East London and will be adding further postcodes in the coming months. Personally I can’t wait for them to get to Thatcham so that I can give them a try (Hint to Weengs… I hate packing and posting Christmas presents, do you gift wrap as well?)
