Sage launches petition urging an end to SME late payments

Sage UK has launched a petition calling for all business invoices to be paid within 30 days. As part of the petition, Sage has pledged to put its money where its mouth and committed itself to playing fair and paying within 30 days itself.

As the petition says: “Businesses should be paid within 30 days, and always on time.

The average small business in the UK is owed nearly £12,000 in outstanding invoices, forcing them to spend 336 hours every year to chase late payments. Nearly two thirds of firms (60%) are having to wait for 60 days or more for payment—money that is owed to them.

Late payments is the scourge of British business today. For smaller businesses in particular, it can at best cause cash flow issues, and at worst prove fatal. Quite simply this is not sustainable and has to change.”

You can read and sign the full petition here.

We support the aims and ideas of this petition and hope that it will go some way to getting a fair deal for SMEs and bring an end to late payments.
