eBay Product Identifiers: Multivariation listings & categories

No primary category set

Product Identifiers hmeBay have just posted which categories they’ll be 2016. As promised in the latest Seller Release they’ve given 90 days notice of the change which thankfully takes us well past the busy Christmas period.

The categories which will require product identifiers on multi-variation listings for all new, revised or manually relisted listings for new or manufacturer refurbished items are: Baby; Books, Comics & Magazines; Business, Office & Industrial; Cameras & Photography; Clothes, Shoes & Accessories (shoes only); Computers/Tablets & Networking; DVDs, Films & TV; Health & Beauty; Home, Furniture & DIY; Mobile Phones & Communication; Music; Musical Instruments; Pet Supplies; Sound & Vision; Sporting Goods; Toys & Games; Vehicle Parts & Accessories; and Video Games & Consoles.

Product Identifiers for Multi-Variation Listings

The 31st of January, 2016 is also the date that eBay will require product identifiers for multi-variation listings in eligible categories. If you have multi-variation listings, you’ll need to take action before then to make sure product identifiers are completed.

When should you edit your listings?

This sounds like a job for the quiet time once you’ve shut the warehouse for the Christmas break or a task to put on your New Year Resolutions list. eBay say that their tools (Bulk Edit and Relist tool) will support multi-variation listing product identifiers at some point in December, although third party tools may have added support sooner (or already).

eBay have said “We realise many of you are preparing for the upcoming holiday selling season, and want to reassure you that adding product identifiers to your multi-variation listings remains completely voluntary until after the end of January“.
