Royal Mail has joined the Government’s Exporting is GREAT campaign, with the aim to help UK SMEs harness the power of exporting and reach new international markets.
At the launch of Exporting is GREAT in Gateshead, Royal Mail and the UK Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise the partnership and give UK businesses access to Royal Mail’s unique global connections and logistics expertise.
Exporting is GREAT is the Government’s most ambitious export campaign ever. It aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020. SMEs currently account for over half the value of UK Exports and of those businesses which do not export nearly half feel they would need trusted distribution partners in order to start trading internationally.
Royal Mail already carry a significant volume of Britain’s total exports, amounting to millions of export parcels every year. As the UK’s Universal Service Provider, Royal Mail has unique connections with postal networks across the globe and can deliver to 99.6% of the world’s population.
As a partner of Exporting is Great, Royal Mail Group will deliver services, toolkits and research designed to make international trade less daunting and help businesses breakdown international barriers.
To coincide with the launch, Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide are today launching a dedicated exports website, to support the campaign, providing guidance and information for first time exporters and as well as seasoned international businesses.
Lord Maude, Minister for Trade and Investment says: “Exporting is GREAT is the government’s most ambitious export campaign ever, aiming to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020. I’m delighted that the Royal Mail will be partnering with us to extend and sustain the campaign’s reach and provide support to businesses to boost their capability and help them successfully access international markets”.
Moya Greene, CEO of Royal Mail Group, added: “Royal Mail Group wholeheartedly supports the Government’s campaign to drive British companies to export. Royal Mail is uniquely placed to help the UK Government to meet its stretching 2020 targets. We help SMEs’ products and brands reach virtually every address in the world”.

If they really wanted to help, Royal Mail could assist with exports in an instant – lower their International Postage rates for packets

As long as RM continues to quote aspirational delivery times, and continues to allow eBay to quote those aspirational delivery times for sales via their site, they do SME’s no favour at all (under the new eBay ‘late’ postage regime that is).
eg 3-5 days for delivery in Estonia? Sellers have no chance.
LOL
Yeah exporting is great, if you’re Chinese and exporting to the UK.
Royal Mail will help you ship to the UK cheaper than they let the idiots in the UK ship to the UK.
Hopefully I will be exporting myself out of the UK soon.
