A few weeks back Paypal launched a redesigned web app. Have you used it yet?

It looks like the redesign has been successful, according to a blog report from Joanna Lambert, who is the VP of Global Consumer Product & Engineering.

She notes that they’ve seen 18 million consumer opt-ins in 145 countries across the globe already and a 12% increase in the number of downloads.

As she says of the new app: “We also brought you a more personalized send and request money experience, and we can see you are taking advantage of the easier access to your contacts, transparency and ease of use. There have been 100 send and request money transactions per minute since we launched the new PayPal app. The send and request money feature is a great way to pay each other back for meals and giving gifts. That’s a lot of you using the PayPal app to help you move your money around the world!”

This is all good news for Paypal as it forges ahead as a newly independent company after the eBay split. Mobile is the critical frontier for payments and its interesting to see that their innovations are paying off.
