Tamebay reader and friend Emma Jones MBE has been appointed as the government’s Small Business Crown Representative. Emma is the founder of Enterprise Nation and all round good egg.
So what is the position of Small Business Crown representative? Gov.uk explains here: “In her new position, working with government departments and the Crown Commercial Service, Emma will help smaller businesses in the UK bid for and win important government contracts. This supports the government’s manifesto commitment to spend £1 in every £3 with SMEs by 2020.”
When we’ve written about this situation in the past and we’ve been sceptical that the government is serious about spending more money with small firms. In particular, we’ve noted that local authorities need to spend with SMEs as a key step, alongside central government.
So we’re pleased to hear about Emma’s appointment, we know she’s serious about getting more government wedge to SMEs and wish her every success.
