Amazon trials 30 hour weeks for some staff

No primary category set

Amazon is experimenting with employment terms and conditions and one thing they’re looking at is working hours. Some tech teams in the HR department in Seattle will be enjoying 30 hour weeks with all the perks as those on 40 hour contracts but 75% of the pay.

The new working week for such staff will be Monday to Thursday from 10am to 2pm. Individuals will have the choice to make up their other hours at times of their own choice.

Amazon says of the experiment: “We want to create a work environment that is tailored to a reduced schedule and still fosters success and career growth. This initiative was created with Amazon’s diverse workforce in mind and the realization that the traditional full-time schedule may not be a ‘one size fits all’ model.

While the part-time employees’ projects will be carefully managed to align with schedules, they will share the same objective of all of our teams: to build great things on behalf of our customers.”
