You might be forgiven for not having much interest in case number T20150518 up before Southwark Crown Court Number 11 today. You’ll be slightly more interested when you realise that it’s Amazon who are before the bench to defend themselves against the charge of of illegally transporting dangerous goods on planes.
The CAA is prosecuting Amazon for allegedly sending lithium-ion batteries, aerosols and car screen wash on planes back in 2013 – 2015.
Earlier, Amazon pleaded not guilty saying “The issue is there is no dispute on the prosecution statement of facts, but there is statutory defence of reasonable care”.
The company being prosecuted is Amazon UK Services Ltd and currently the first witness has been sworn in. It’s likely to be some time (three weeks!) before we get a verdict but we’ll let you know when a judgement comes down.
