eBay Neighbourhood, eBay’s new peer to peer assisted selling services is expanding to new cities today.

The original trial areas went live in London, Manchester and Glasgow in August and eBay are now expanding the program to 11 new cities – Oxford; Nottingham; Brighton; Leeds; Birmingham; Southampton; Colchester; York; Blackpool; Bath; and Bristol.

For sellers who enrol in the program there is an introductory offer of no fees for neighbourhood transactions for three months. Sellers will be able to keep the full 40% commission (based on the final selling value) for any transactions carried out for clients.

eBay estimate that the average home has £4,000 worth of unwanted goods meaning that there are plenty of opportunities for consumers to make some easy cash with little or no effort. All they have to do is to get in touch with a Neighbourhood seller and arrange for them to sell their unwanted possessions for them.

Would you sign up as an eBay Neighbourhood seller for 40% commission? Or even if you’re en experienced eBay seller, do you have unwanted possessions around the house that you can’t be bothered to list on your personal account and it would simply be easier to get someone else to flog them on your behalf?

It’s also worth noting, if you are a lazy consumer, eBay also have an Assisted Selling Program with Stuff U Sell and they’ll only charge you 30% commission and collect your goods via courier for free.
