Wickes has launched ‘Wickes Hourly’, a new delivery service giving customers a choice of one-hour time slots for product deliveries. The service has been made possible through a partnership with On The Dot.
Introduced nationwide, hourly delivery is designed to make home improvement shopping quicker and easier. Whether it be power tool failure or running out of a product mid-job, this latest service offer from Wickes enables customers to chose ultra-convenient delivery.
There are over 7,000 products available through Wickes Hourly and orders can be made online or through the customer services team. Precise one-hour windows are available seven days a week and same day, from £9.95.
Naturally there are a few product limitations – On the dot can delivery any product that weighs up to 25kg and is smaller than 1m x 1m x 1.2m. Orders can be made up of multiple items, with no limit on quantity however the total order is restricted to 200kg and a combined dimension of 1m x 1m x 1.2m which means they’ll fit into a small van.
Wickes Hourly compliments the range of fulfilment options already available to customers, including such as next day and one-hour click & collect. This latest delivery service provides customers with even more delivery choice.
Developed in 2015, On the dot is operated by CitySprint – the largest privately owned courier fleet in the UK, with a regional network of 41 service centres – and supported by its GPS, SMS and email tracking technology. Its open API means it can be easily integrated into retailers’ checkouts and EPOS, both online and in-store.
So far we’ve generally only seen new delivery technology applied to fast moving consumer goods – the things that Royal Mail or a standard courier find it easy to deliver. On the dot’s new partnership with Wickes gives some hope to retailers of oversize and over weight goods that they too might be able to offer more convenient deliveries at some point in the future.
