We’ve heard from a reader that PayPal billed some of their customers in the wrong currency during the first week of November. We have no idea how this could have happened nor how widespread the issue may have been.
PayPal have identified the glitch, are in the process of rectifying the errors and have sent this email to affected retailers:
“We want to let you know about a technical issue we experienced that caused some of your customers to be charged in a different currency. The issue happened from 1/11/2016 to 10/11/2016.
We’re working to correct this issue with your impacted customers and have communicated with them about the issue.
Even though we’ll work with them to resolve the issue for the payment they made to you, any subsequent refunds, reversals, chargebacks and so on will trigger the incorrect currency conversion. If this issue happens, your customer can contact us by using the Contact link on any PayPal page.”
