The future is automated and Amazon is leading the way. Robots are at the core of ecommerce innovation. At the end of 2014, Amazon had 14k robots and now it has more than three times that. So what’s the story at Robot Amazon? 45k robots is a huge investment. Do you welcome your new rob overlords? And what do the robots do?

The answer is pretty much everything. And now they have massive futuristic robot arms they use for picking stock too.

Back in 2012 Amazon bought a robotics company called Kiva Systems $775 million. We wrote about it back then. The robot technology back then was about picking up shelves and bringing them to human pickers. Such robots are said to be 16 inches tall and weigh almost 145 kilograms. They travel at 5 mph and can bring packages weighing up to 317 kilograms. Check them out here.

The video is a few years old but don’t let that fool you. The Amazon future is all about robots.

What do you think about total automation? And can you keep up?

If you keep your stock in an FBA facility, do you feel that your items are well looked after? Or does robot care worry you? Or doesn’t it matter at all as long as you make maximum sales?
