Amazon strikes deal for 4k Click & Collect sites in Spain and Portugal

One of the pre-requisites of successful and efficient ecommerce is a fully functioning and effective postal and delivery system and, in some parts of Europe, the postal service isn’t quite as good as elsewhere. And Amazon is always keen to improve how shoppers receive their purchases.

And Amazon is giving shoppers in Italy, Portugal and Spain more click & collect options. They have revealed a partnership with Repsol, which operates petrol stations in Europe, after a successful test in 320 locations in Italy. Now 4000 petrol stations in Spain in Portugal will now get click & collect Amazon lockers which are a familiar sight in the UK. The new lockers will be installed over the next two months.

Josu Jon Imaz, Repsol chief executive says: “We’re adding new products and services to our forecourts to take advantage of the fact we have more face-to-face contact with consumers each day than almost any other brand in Spain.”

There are already 1300 Amazon pick-up locations in the UK and it’s clear that Amazon are keen to expand the network and offer more convenience for shoppers. It’s also notable that Amazon, in this instance, is looking at small ecommerce markets in southern Europe that it doesn’t always seen to be prioritising.
