On Thursday last week the first Online Seller Network meet up event took place in Covent Garden with some 50-60 people in attendance.
Perhaps one of the best parts of the event was the total lack of PowerPoint presentations and pitches. The organisers all agreed that PowerPoint tends to be boring, so we’ll continue the ban on formal presentations in the future. The Online Seller Network is designed to facilitate discussion between peers and so most of the evening was proper networking and over the wine, beers and nibbles.
The formal part of the evening, the panel discussion, raised a number of topics so I was thankful to be joined by Melissa from Lingerie Outlet Store, Bertie from Flubit, Josh from Bid On This and Ted from Your Business Community who were more than willing to share their experiences and knowledge. It was pleasing to see them all being collared after the panel by people hungry to know more.
We’ll be looking for more top quality panellists for future sessions who, as at the first event, won’t simply be there to plug their own offerings. We’ll be carefully selecting and inviting speakers who can add real value to the event and answer whatever questions you may have about your online business.
The event was so successful that we’re planning at two repeat events later this year – One in October and another early December so if you’re interested in attending keep a look out for imminent announcement of the next dates on Tamebay. Provisionally pencil in the 19th of October and the 7th of December but these dates are subject to change until we book the venue.
