There’s a lot of Amazon News out there this morning, here’s a digest of some of the interesting stories that marketplaces sellers will want to note but which aren’t of direct daily relevance to 3P sellers.

Sky Sports bosses concerned about Manchester City and Amazon TV deal

Executives at Sky Sports are reportedly rather cross about a deal that Amazon has done with football club Manchester City for a £10 million “fly on the wall” documentary series. Sky paid £4 billion for the rights to screen Premiership football and so is perhaps understandably irked that Amazon will have full behind the scenes access all areas rights for the dressing rooms, boardroom and players at home. Amazon launches the new waterproof Kindle Oasis

The recent Amazon product launch, which very much focussed on Alexa didn’t have much news on Kindle developments. And whilst the Kindle in its various forms doesn’t always get much in the way of the limelight, it’s still a prolific device for Amazon. And a new Kindle is on its way: the waterproof Kindle Oasis. It’s currently available now for pre-order and will start being despatched at the end of the month. There’s loads more details on the spec of the new Kindle here.

Alexa now recognises individual voices

As of today the Alexa app is being updated with a new feature that will further enhance the Echo proposaition. Alexa will now be able to recognise individual voices which is ideal for households with more than one person in them. You’ll need to set up users with Alexa by saying a selection of phrases so they can learn who you are and what you sound like but after that there are numerous opportunities for personalisation. And it will also be a useful safety tool for households with children. Here’s more information.
