I love gift wrap, when I left it a little late for my nephews birthday I discussed what gift he’d like with my brother and while I was on the phone made a purchase, added gift wrap and had the present shipped direct before I’d even finished the call. Lazy yes but hell it’s convenient!
Now Etsy famed for their craft and gift products are giving their merchants the opportunity to offer a gift wrap service for anything and everything sold on the marketplace. Some sellers will see this new feature right away in their Etsy Shop Manager in the Shop Options section, and it’s planning to roll out to all sellers by Thursday.
When will buyers see Etsy Gift Wrap?
Etsy will start showing the gift wrap option to shoppers in the next few weeks. During this time, they will gradually roll out this new experience, meaning that not all shoppers will see the option to add gift wrap on launch day. This does give you a little time not only to add the option to your Etsy listings but also to go out and source some gift wrap supplies… and where better to do so than from your fellow Etsy sellers?
You may also wish to think about gift wrap that is neutral Christmas colours but will also suffice for the rest of the year to save changing with the seasons – green and red colours would seem to fit the bill.
The mechanics of Etsy Gift Wrap
If you choose to offer gift wrap, customers will see the option to add it to their order for an additional fee. You’ll need to set your gift wrap price and upload a photo to really give shoppers a good idea of the kind of gift wrap you’re providing.
Customers can still add a gift message if you don’t offer Etsy Gift Wrap
All customers will also have the option to add a gift message to their order at no charge. If you choose not to offer the gift wrap option then you can simply include a newly designed packing slip provided by Etsy.
