eBay‘s ambition with their Seller Hub is to give you all the tools and information that you need to run your business in one place. That’s why from June they’ll be adding reports to give you more visibility on buyers after sales communications.
What will the new Seller Hub Insights show?
- You’ll see new information about transactions when buyers contacted you about items they did not receive, or requested returns when an item is not as described.
- These new metrics and benchmarks are just for your reference, and will not affect your seller performance standards evaluation or rating.
- As a reminder, seller performance ratings can be affected if you don’t resolve buyer requests in a timely manner (including where there is the risk of having those cases closed without resolution).
It will be easier to see how often you personally receive requests compared to other sellers of similar items. As data becomes available we’d expect sellers to use this to drill down and identify products or product categories that generate the largest numbers of returns or after sales support queries and use this information to tailor their listing descriptions, titles, images and Item Specifics.
eBay will consider the performance of all sellers who offer similar products, or different products but under similar circumstances. This information can be used by you, to make comparisons and identify opportunities for your business. Factors used to create the benchmarks will include: the location of the buyer, the product category, the sales price, item condition, and more.
These new reports don’t affect your seller performance and are for information only (but of course not resolving any outstanding resolution cases will impact your performance). eBay say that research shows that when buyers receive their orders on time and in the condition they expect, they are less likely to require service after the sale. It also builds confidence in your Shop as a trusted place for future shopping and more to the point lessons your workload.
