Etsy urges sellers to share the love on Instagram on February 8th

No primary category set

Etsy is crowdsourcing help from their sellers for a promotional push on social sharing site Instagram. You can find out more details, and information about the prizes here.

As they say: “This February, we’re feeling the love. Show the world how much you love your shop (and send a little love to another Etsy shop owner).” Presumably it’s a pre-Valentine’s push to promote products that will be good to give to your beau on the 14th.

On 8 February, they’re asking you to promote your shop on Instagram by sharing a photo with the hashtag #LoveYourShopSweeps and then “send good vibes to another seller by sharing a second photo promoting their shop with the same hashtag (don’t forget to tag their Instagram handle!). Do both and you’ll be entered into the Etsy Love Your Shop Sweepstakes.”

And as an incentive, you could win two $500 USD Etsy Gift Cards — one for you and another for the shop you promote. There will be four winners and the Sweepstakes is open to residents of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, and Australia.

This is the kind of kooky promo that Etsy still manages to pull off, and that’s testament to the community vibe that persists there amongst many sellers, although it’s by no means clear if these events have any major promotional impact and drive incremental sales for sellers on the marketplace.
