French supermarket Monoprix has announced its grocery goods will be available through the Amazon Prime Now service at some point this year. Amazon has been looking for a grocery partner in France for some time.
Amazon Prime Now offers 2 hour delivery on a variety of items to subscribers in a selection of metropolitan areas around the world. Users of the service are typically affluent and not price sensitive
The two companies announced they are joining forces to bring grocery items sourced from Monoprix to Amazon Prime Now service customers in Paris and some surrounding areas this year. Grocery items sourced from Monoprix will be available in the Prime Now app and website through a dedicated virtual store. Amazon Prime Now customers will be able to access thousands of grocery items sourced from Monoprix including Monoprix Gourmet, Monoprix Bio and La Beauté Monoprix.
Monoprix further differentiates and increases its unique position as urban omni channel leader. Monoprix will benefit from the most comprehensive grocery delivery service in Paris.
All Prime members can immediately download the Prime Now app, available on iOS and Android devices, or visit www.primenow.fr to find eligible delivery postcodes, place orders and track the status of their delivery in real time or request notification when the service is available in their area.

Amazon is investing heavily across the globe in groceries and the form the efforts take varies by geography. Obviously in the USA, and to some extent the UK, Whole foods is at the centre of the push with Amazon Grocery and Amazon Fresh also playing a part. In India, they have teamed up with local supermarkets too. The French deal with Monoprix links it with one of the bigger supermarket chains in the country and could be an deal for both parties.
And it might also signal a bigger partnership with the retail group Casino Guichard Perrachon SA which owns Monoprix. A report from Reuters say that Amazon and Casino might be considering a partnership in Brazil involving the sale of electronics.
